The Faculty of THE HEALTH CAPTAINS INSTITUTE is a multidisciplinary alliance of thought leaders, system architects, and innovators committed to shaping the strategic transition toward sustainable medicine for sustainable health. Serving as the intellectual engine of the Institute, the Faculty integrates academic excellence, clinical insight, technological innovation, governance expertise, and entrepreneurial vision to drive transformation across healthcare ecosystems.

Embodying a Medici-effect mindset, Faculty members represent a wide spectrum of expertise—from medicine, public health, and biomedical research to digital health, law, health economics, systems engineering, ethics, sociology, and planetary health. This diversity fosters cross-pollination of ideas and strategic foresight at the inflection point of systemic change.

Faculty members contribute across the four strategic pillars of the Institute:

  1. Institute for Strategy Studies for University & Academic Medical Center and Health Foundations
Faculty with academic, translational research, and foundation leadership backgrounds provide critical analysis, strategic frameworks, and foresight to reposition academic medical centers as innovation hubs for sustainable health.

  2. Institute for Sustainable Medicine for Sustainable Health as a Regional Competitive Factor
Experts in regional health economics, health policy, hospital management, and digital infrastructure guide strategies to enhance regional health systems as drivers of resilience, equity, and socioeconomic competitiveness.

  3. Institute for the Convergence of Sustainable Healthcare, Healthy Longevity, Blue Zones, One Health
Visionaries across longevity science, preventive medicine, environmental health, and population health synthesize holistic approaches that integrate personal, community, and planetary well-being.

  4. Institute for the Synchronization of Regional, National, International, and Global Initiatives
Faculty with international diplomacy, global health governance, innovation policy, and systems leadership experience support the harmonization of fragmented efforts into aligned, high-impact global health action.

“ What drives me is a kind of motto in life. You have to try to think the unthinkable. If we don’t ask questions, we don’t get answers. I think it is important to carefully analyze dogmas that exist in different areas of life. Even in the scientific field, it is not always credible what these dogmas convey to us – however, they occasionally erect intellectual fences that we must try to tear down.”
